100 years of Alzheimer's Disease

In 1906, Alois Alzheimer, a German psychiatrist and neurologist, first presented a paper on a case of dementia which was later identified as Alzheimer's disease (AD). Today, nearly 100 years later, we still haven't found a cure. September 21 is World Alzheimer day.

Some famous people with AD ...

Ronald Reagan, 40th President of USA
Iris Murdoch, author
Rita Hayworth, actress
Louis Feraud, fashion designer
George Balanchine, dancer and choreographer
Enid Blyton, writer
Aaron Copland, composer
Harold Wilson, British Prime Minister
Charlton Heston, an actor and political activist

AD is not a normal process of aging. In our Dec 2005 newsletter, we presented non-drug therapies for reducing the risk of AD. For more information on symptoms and treatment options, please visit the links presented in the right column on this page.
